Everything changes in midlife — and skincare is no exception.

Our skin changes with age, and in midlife we begin to see sagging, dark spots, uneven skin tone and deep wrinkles more clearly. Declining estrogen levels in midlife slow down skin cell production — which makes skin drier, rougher, and less elastic — and the decline of collagen protein generation can make skin thinner and less firm as well.

A lifetime of sun exposure, alcohol use, and stress can also begin to add up by midlife, increasing skin inflammation and redness. Women in menopause may also notice increased sensitivity, more frequent rosacea flare-ups, unexpected allergic reactions, and — yep — adult acne.

Our skin doesn’t just look or feel different in midlife — it also needs different care. Those tried-and-true hacks may not cut it anymore, and our skincare routines may need to shift. But in a culture obsessed with youth, products are often developed less for our benefit and more for our insecurities — with a focus on “anti-aging” and attempting to turn back time, instead of aging gracefully with good skin health.

Luckily, the conversation is changing. A new wave of skincare influencers are embracing aging by sharing the products that work on their mature skin, inviting us into their skincare routines, and breaking down the science of skincare after 50. Once you add these faces to your feed, you just may find it a little easier to love the midlife skin you’re in.

This has been my go-to secret to that airbrushed look for over 2 years. The formulation is so unique as it gives that blurred look, but at the same time leaves the skin hydrated not dry or cakey. 🗣️Society’s got a lot ❗️to say about how we age—but here’s the truth: aging is OUR choice, 💪🏽 NOT a debate. 🤼‍♀️ It’s ironic, isn’t it? The very people judging us today will face the same choices tomorrow. This isn’t just ageism—it’s hypocrisy. 🙊 Why do we tear each other down when we’re all headed down the same road? 🚴‍♀️ So let’s break the cycle and remind ourselves that aging with grace, dignity, and freedom is a right, not a crime. Whether it’s embracing the silver strands 👩🏻‍🦳or choosing a little extra glow 🌟it’s time to own our journeys. Let’s make room for every path and start a movement! 🌊 What do you think?? 🤨 . . . . . Ageless, age is just a number, pro aging, over 40 and fabulous, women supporting women, aging, silver hair, 50 and fabulous, women’s health, age positive, women empowerment, over 50 and fabulous, over 50. #ageless #ageisjustanumber #proaging #over40andfabulous #womensupportingwomen #aging #silverhair #50andfabulous #womenshealth #agepositive #womenempowerment #over50andfabulous #over50
